Work from home!

Ok, we have a situation where you need to work from home

And we are all connected to the Google environment which makes it pretty simple.

Let's be clear! - We are not drilled in this, so we need to be humble and do our best & not to get furious if students, parents, and colleges really don't know how to solve digital issues.

With that said, please continue the digital journey!

For the live class - presenting situation

Use Google Meet / Hangouts. Either from your mobile phone using your Work Google account, or direct from your Chromebook.

If we start by attacking this from non-techy angle first.

Workflow

  • Prepare for the lesson, presentation, questions, worksheets to students, etc
  • On a unified platform, set time and present the link to the online meeting platform to students
  • At a spec. time. Start or join the meeting, welcome students as they join
  • Explain what will happen in the near future
  • Set the rules for the lesson, how to contact the teacher, ask questions
  • The presenter starts sharing the screen, students follow the teacher
  • Share and explain exercises/worksheets
  • Ask students to stay online as they do their exercises
  • Round up the lesson and explain when the next session will occur.

The Technical part

Use Google Meet as the meeting platform.
Inform students, with time, links to meeting platform in Schoolsoft

Remember! - Anyone can mute anyone, and it is pretty simple to invite others into a meeting online. I've opened up the option to record videos and take photos on Chromebooks so, students can capture and record these meetings. So, yes, there will be issues, but we can only do the best out of the situation.

Google Meet Guide to get started

After the presentation, students need to get job done!

After the live event its important that students know where to find material and how to hand in their works. Make sure that you have a plan and explain the plan clear to all students.

The Techy part

Try - Use Google Classroom!

To get started with Google Classroom follow these links.

Remote Desktop?

In near future, IT admin will push an install of Remote Desktop on to your Chromebook. If you feel that you are in need of assistance, we have the option to help you using the Remote Desktop app.

IMPORTANT to understand, we cannot take control over your laptop without your admittance.
